Entrepreneurship is a dream for many, but few possess the necessary skills and gumption to make it a reality. What inspired you to pursue your entrepreneurial dream?
Growing up, I often noticed how women had fewer opportunities and were rarely encouraged to dream beyond societal norms. That always stayed with me, sparking a desire to do something out of the box—something that challenged stereotypes while carving a path for others to follow. When the opportunity to lead Obeetee came along, I saw it as a chance to break boundaries and reimagine how craftsmanship could be celebrated globally.
For me, entrepreneurship wasn’t just about business; it was about proving that women can lead with impact, innovation, and heart. I wanted to create something that not only inspired others but also left a legacy of change.
The Indian startup ecosystem is thriving, but perfection is still a work in progress. What is one change you would suggest in the immediate future?
One immediate change I’d like to see is greater gender equity in funding. Despite the progress, female entrepreneurs often face bias during investment discussions, with questions focusing more on personal life choices than business potential. Addressing this requires not just a shift in mindset but actionable policies that encourage gender-neutral funding opportunities. Platforms dedicated to mentoring and connecting women entrepreneurs with the right resources could bridge this gap. A stronger representation of women in decision-making roles within the investor community would also inspire more trust and support for female-led ventures. Empowering women entrepreneurs isn’t just good ethics; it’s good economics- it unlocks innovation and drives inclusive growth.
