10 Female Politicians Who Won Big in LS Polls 2024

The results of the 18th Lok Sabha Elections for all constituencies across the country have been declared. Although female candidates were few and far in between, yet they made a significant impact. While some returned to glory, some emerged as young voices of change. Let’s meet some of the most noteworthy female politicians who etched a win in this LS polls.

After seven gruelling phases of election, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections came to a close with the results being decaled on June 4. BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won a total of 292 seats defeating Congress-led INDIA that obtained 232 seats. In a long-waited results, BJP won 240 seats out of 543 whereas congress procured 99 seats, losing to the opponent.

In between the long battle of the formation of government in the country, women candidates grabbed attention with their triumph in several states. While 312 million female voters casted their votes (as per Election Commission), 797 women candidates contested the election out of which only 74 got elected as the MPs (Members of Parliament), exemplifying only 13.6% of the 543 members being women from Parliament’s Lower House. Surprisingly, 16% of female MPs are below 40, according to think-tank PRS analysis. In 2024, the 18th Lok Sabha elections witnessed the highest number of women parliamentarians.

Election Commission data shows female winners of poll calculates at 30 from BJP, 14 from Congress, 11 from TMC, four from Samajwadi Party, three from DMK and two each from JDU and LJP(R).
