Currently leading Sainsbury's Argos Asia – India, she excels in global supply chains, fostering collaboration, and mentoring teams. Passionate about driving success in diverse, inclusive environments.
In 2024, the apparel sourcing industry experienced several key trends, most impactful in my view were:
Nearshoring and Onshoring: In the last 18 months, several global disruptions have caused retailers based in the West to shift their sourcing strategies closer to home to reduce lead times, improve supply chain resilience, and respond more quickly to market changes.
Circular Fashion: We saw the adoption of circular fashion principles, such as recycling and upcycling, gaining momentum.
This approach aims to minimize waste and extend the lifecycle of garments.
In 2025, there seems to be a broader shift towards more sustainable, ethical, and technologically advanced practices in the apparel sourcing industry.
Technology Integration: The use of AI and blockchain is revolutionizing sourcing processes and more retailers are investing in technology upgradation.
AI helps in demand forecasting and inventory management, while blockchain ensures transparency and traceability in the supply chain.
Ethical Sourcing: Ensuring fair labor practices and improving working conditions in the supply chain have always remained a critical priority and will continue to gain momentum as our end consumer is more conscious than ever.
Sustainability: There's a growing emphasis on sustainable sourcing practices. Brands are increasingly seeking eco-friendly materials and ethical production methods to meet consumer demand for environmentally responsible products.
