Top 10 Women Leaders In Real Estate - 2023
The Future is Female
Industry sectors are currently going through a state of self-assessment and real estate is not an exception. When it comes to real estate, men may have significantly dominated the industry, but definitely the future is female. Women has been part of the industry since the beginning and has worked in more administrative roles, but when the industries went through revolution, more and more women are coming forward and broke into this industry being brokers and agents. Today, successful women in real estate represent the majority of the industry and many are advancing to leadership positions across the nation.
Wage Disparity
Despite a storm of revolution, the industry still carries an unfortunate term called gender wage gap, where women are generally found to be paid less than men and the same holds true for both real estate and commercial real estate. A study by CREW Network discovered that within commercial real estate, the salary gap between males and females lies at about 10 percent, or 90 cents to a man’s dollar, but the most astonishing gap occurs for bonuses and commission at nearly 56 percent. Overall, these numbers demonstrate that much can still be done to achieve pay equality for women.
Women taking over Real Estate
With fostering entrepreneurship spirit merging with feminism, the world is witnessing unimaginable today. Being a part of this journey Real estate welcomes women with open hands and providing them with opportunities to be significant contributors of economic empowerment and career advancement. As a result, women currently dominate the real estate industry as a whole, but still they only make up 36.7 percent of the commercial real estate workforce, and this number hasn’t significantly changed over the past 15 years. With commercial real estate remaining a male majority, this highlights a high-time for women to venture into diverse areas where they can make an impact. However in the 21st-century, women are equipped with a willingness to take up tasks that were considered the men’s business before and breaking gender stereotypes and, social norms and expectations. With equal access to education they are now more than self-sufficient, well aware and financially independent, and attained immense success in every field, which needs to be acknowledged and celebrated.
