Top 10 Women Leaders in Green Energy - 2022
As per the Allied Market Research reports, the global renewable energy market was valued at $881.7 billion in 2020, and it is projected to reach $1,977.6 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 8.4 percent. Well, an alternative to energy source, green or clean energy's scale of transformation in India is stunning too. The green energy industry has witnessed a staggering growth in the recent years in India comparative of any other major economy, while new capacity additions is set to double by 2026 in the industry. Even the reports by Research Mordor Intelligence state that the Indian renewable energy market is poised to grow by 10 percent by 2027. Also, as of April 2022, India's installed renewable energy capacity (including hydro) stood at 158.12 GW, representing 39.43 percent of the overall installed power capacity. The country is targeting about 450 Gigawatt (GW) of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030, ie, about 280 GW (over 60 percent) is expected from solar.
Even, much of women employee numbers can be found to be increasing in the green re-newable energy industry in the recent times. According to studies, women account for an estimated 11 percent of the workforce in the rooftop solar sector in India. While its signifi-cantly less than the global average of women in the renewables sector, being 32 percent, training more women in STEM subjects could help tap on more women in leadership roles in the industry. India has witnessed a recogniz-able participation of women in the green en-ergy industry where they have declared their extensive accomplishments leading several recognized entities to curating huge results.
