Top 10 Indian Women Leaders from Malaysia - 2022
Viewing its historic records since the early centuries A.D. in internationally valued exports of gold, tin and exotics such as birds’ feathers, edible birds’ nests, aromatic woods, tree resins, and more, it is evident that Malaysia had a rich and proliferous economy. While, what augmented its commercial importance was its strategic position athwart the seaborne trade routes from the Indian Ocean to East Asia. However, left alone its history, even today its economy is the third largest in Southeast Asia and the 34th largest in the world in terms of GDP. Malaysia has a mixed economic system which includes a variety of private freedom, combined with centralized economic planning and government regulation.
Well, due to a fast-growing export-oriented economy, a relatively low national income tax, highly affordable local food and transport fuel, as well as a fully subsidized single-payer public healthcare system, today the country has many well-established businesses being led by experienced and skilled leaders across the industries. And, the leadership roles are being domineered by not only the in-country corporate or entrepreneurial leaders, but also gender inclusive international leaders with fortune knowledge and industry dexterity.
Women leaders also seem to contribute significantly to the evolution and delegation of functions and operations across significant domains in the Malaysian industry today. Though, they have had a slower rate in the senior leadership roles according to the statistics, given the proportion of women leaders in Malaysia rising from 31 percent in 2020 to 37 percent in 2021. While, there are many Indian origin women leaders too who tend to augment this number by leveraging their capable leadership responsibilities heading many renowned companies in C-level or senior leadership roles or even as entrepreneurial leaders.
It is their continuous efforts to ensure women fill up C-level positions and sit on boards having greater say and decision-making power in corporations, that has brough them here, today. Their strong sense of defying injustice coupled with their commitment to the community, needs to be celebrated. In this issue, the Women Entrepreneur magazine brings in to spotlight a list of 'Top 10 Indian Women Leaders from Malaysia - 2022'.
