The Punjab Commission on Status of Women (PCSW) was established by the Government of Punjab in 2014 for the empowerment of women, expansion of socio-economic opportunities for women and elimination of all discriminations against them. Punjab is one of the most secure states in India in terms of Female Security Index (FSI). It is shocking that the sex ratio fell from 893 to 886 in 2019, lagging behind the national average in one of the most secure states for women. On the gender equality goal, the state is given 46 points. Even though this is higher when compared to 43 points in last year, the state has a long way to go in gender equality goal. But the state has scored much less than national average in violence against women and domestic violence. But still, the state cannot hold its head high till it fully eliminates the discrimination and gender disparity.

The state is also home to many women who were innovative, courageous and brave, and with determination & hard work, have gone a long way in the business and corporate world. They have made their footprints in the corporate world and their stories may inspire thousands of ordinary girls dreaming a great future. Women empowerment and participation in socio-economic activities is the key to development for any country. In a country like India which ranks third lowest in business leadership roles for women, it is important to bring into limelight the faces of success to enlighten the society power and contributions of educated women.
