Top 10 Corporate Women Leaders from Delhi - 2021

Indian women are spreading their wings and entering workforce across all sectors such as banking, medical, pilots, politics, engineering and many others. A study by management consulting firm Zinnov, in collaboration with Intel India shows that there is a visible increase in the representation of women in corporate India. Women contributed to 21 percent five years ago to 30 percent now. Still, the higher representation is in non-technical roles which accounts for 31 percent, when compared to technical roles which accounts to 26 percent. However, women labour force is mostly found in entry level rather than middle and senior positions. The same study reveals that only 11 percent of senior leaders are women, compared with 20 percent in mid-level roles and 38 percent in junior roles.

India ranked third lowest in having women in leadership roles. Workforce participation of Indian women is only 24 percent of the total Indian work force and much lower than the global average of 40 percent. This gender disparity is the result of marginalization and effacement faced by them for years in a patriarchal society. Studies show that women have to struggle, as they are usually underemployed in the organizations. It would take a lot of courage and determination to break the blind beliefs of society stereotypes. It may take years for women to completely break the glass ceiling.
