Women voters outnumber men in 50 percent of Karnataka constituencies

The number of seats in the state where women voters outnumber men has increased to 112 or 50 percent of the total seats in the 224 Karnataka Assembly constituencies, according to the recent electoral rolls data. The figures for the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections were 67 or 30 percent.

The rural areas of Karnataka hold the most number of voters in the 112 seats which is spread across 28 of the 34 districts of the state. These districts are, Bagalkot, Bangalore Rural, Belgaum, Bellary, Bijapur, Chamarajnagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, Devangere, Dharwad, Gadag, Gulbarga, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Koppal, Mandya, Mysore, Raichur, Ramanagaram, Shimoga, Tumkur, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Vijayanagara, and Yadgir.

The states have seen a sudden rise in female voters across the region in the last 5 years. The number of female voters per every 1000 male voters has increased, rising from 973 to 989.

There are 2.67 males and 2.64 female voters who will be voting in the upcoming elections on 10 May.

The Mahadevapura seat records the lowest gender ratio of voters that is 858 females per 1000 males whereas Mangalore City South records the highest that is 1,091 females per 1000 male voters.

Overall, 140 seats have more number of gender ratio voters than the state’s average of 989 seats.
