During the challenging times of the pandemic, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir took a proactive measure, through the Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) under the aegis of the Department of Industries and Commerce, with the initiative called “HAUSLA” for Jammu and Kashmir women entrepreneurs. Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha launched the initiative on June 29, 2021, at the SKICC Srinagar.
The initiative is a 5-month training programme for J&K women entrepreneurs organised by JKTPO and partnered with India's homegrown e-commerce marketplace Flipkart to provide extra-mile outreach and marketing support for these women entrepreneurs' products.
In addition, Flipkart will provide them with time-bound incubation support, which will include e-profiling, e-listing of products, and seamless onboarding as sellers on its marketplace. The Jammu and Kashmir government's "Hausla" initiative will be led by some of the brightest minds in entrepreneurship, finance, and e-commerce. India SME Forum, Ni-MSME, and Mission Youth J&K are programme partners, J&K Bank is a financial partner, and Flipkart is an e-commerce partner.
The programme will assist them in overcoming financial, legal, social, and marketing obstacles in their business endeavours. Hausla will provide women entrepreneurs with increased exposure and visibility for their products and services.Ms. Ankita Kar, Managing Director, JKTPO said “As the “HAUSLA” programme aims to create effective marketing linkages for Women Entrepreneurs and their products, we have taken a major step in that direction to ensure an effective e-commerce platform with Flipkart for our program participants.
Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group said “At Flipkart, we have locally developed technology and innovation at the core of all that we do. As a homegrown company, our constant and intense engagement with local Indian businesses has enabled us to better understand their challenges and needs. We have been an enabler of women-led businesses, with a strong presence of such entrepreneurs on our marketplace.
As part of our flagship Flipkart Samarth program, we’ve partnered with JKTPO and we’re happy to power their ambition with locally developed technology by providing them access to a large pan-India consumer market. JKTPO’s program ‘Hausla’ is in line with our efforts to develop an enabling business ecosystem where women entrepreneurs are able to contribute to the socioeconomic developments around them.”
Flipkart Samarth collaborates with reputable non-governmental organisations (NGOs), government agencies, and livelihood missions to reach a large number of rural entrepreneurs, with a special emphasis on women-led enterprises, differently-abled entrepreneurs, artisans, and weavers, who frequently face obstacles such as a lack of working capital, poor infrastructure, and inadequate training. Currently, the programme positively impacts 7,00,000+ livelihoods.
