Great leadership comes in many forms — empathetic, tenacious, innovative, and visionary, among others. What traits make marketing leaders the most successful? Their ability to work with great passion and push boundaries in this fast-paced business environment. Prachi Gupta, Marketing Director, Diamondtine is one such successful and experienced marketing leader who brings to the table a demonstrated history of providing strategic leadership across the apparel and fashion industry.

Prachi began her professional journey in the fashion industry at a very young age working with her parents in their family-owned garment business where she initially learned the basics of this business and later went on to successfully lead some of the company’s main accounts. She proved that passion and determination are more powerful than age or experience. Later she also co-founded One By Three, a clothing label with two other women entrepreneurs. This entrepreneurial stint was a great opportunity for her to grow her entrepreneurial skills and learn multiple facets of building a business from scratch.

Being a right-brained and creative-minded person, Prachi believes creativity drives the whole concept of marketing. Leveraging her unique skills in many different ways, she is currently strengthening the Diamondtine brand in the marketplace and helping to grow the business across PAN India. In an exclusive interview with Women Entrepreneur Magazine, Prachi walks us through her journey.

Introduce us to Diamondtine. Tell us about the various responsibilities you shoulder as the Marketing Director of the organization.

Diamondtine is a contemporary diamond and gold jewelry brand with exquisite pieces for the woman of today. Our brand name Diamondtine comes from the word Adamantine which means having the quality of being indestructible. So, Diamondtine’s core values lie in the unbreakable integrity we present to our clients in the form of diamonds. Our quality, our designs, and our services are focused on a common vision of serving our customers with extraordinary experiences.

As the Marketing Director, I oversee and stir marketing strategies and efforts in order to strengthen the brand's market position and achieve desired business goals. I am responsible for cost-driving and sales through various online channels/platforms. Currently, we are focused on Delhi but looking for opportunities to create a grand presence in the Pan India market. For that, I am guiding my team by evaluating and developing marketing strategies, planning and coordinating marketing efforts, and communicating the marketing plans while building awareness of our brand.

“Consistency holds the key to unlocking the greatest power within ourselves, fueling meaningful & worthwhile pursuits, and driving us towards success and fulfillment”

What are the most challenging aspects of being a marketer in today’s business climate? What steps do you undertake to overcome these roadblocks?

I believe, as much as we have the advantages of social media, being too invested in it comes with a lot of drawbacks. The most challenging aspect is the pace at which the trends are changing - there is so much dependence on social media in terms of how well our business is doing, how many followers we have, and what kind of reach we have with our posts – all these questions create a constant pressure on brands to be at the top of the game in social media. The smartest thing to do is to not be influenced by the changing trends and stick to the original brand story, being consistent with the core of what your brand is bringing to the table. I keep asking myself questions like, does this trend suit my brand? Is this trend going to work for me? Is this the kind of customer I am trying to cater to? Based on my answers I decide whether I need to pick up on a particular trend or let it go. I don't let myself or my team get swept away by this ever-changing flow of trends.

Tell us about the greatest milestones you have achieved for Diamondtine as its Marketing Director.

Diamondtine was established by my husband, Bharat Gupta in 2013 mainly focused on exporting the brand products to different foreign countries. It was in 2020 when I began my journey with Diamondtine that is when we decided to take the products to e-commerce platforms as a retail brand. To get a prominent online presence, I enlisted our brand on various international platforms, one of which proved to be a big success for the company. We were enlisted by a well-known platform which got us an order worth almost 29,00,000 in a span of two months. We have also been recognized by e-business magazines for our exquisite designs and exclusive quality which motivates us to serve our clients with higher quality and much better experiences.

What has been your success mantra?

Marketing leaders must adjust their sales according to the winds, but never sway from their core. There is always a strong need to be consistent - small consistent efforts lead to big outcomes over the course of time. I believe, my biggest power in anything meaningful and worthwhile comes from the power of consistency.

What would be your advice for budding women entrepreneurs/leaders?

When I began my journey with Diamondtine, my daughter was only a few months old and to handle my professional work as well as my family was extremely tedious and exhausting. Sometimes it drastically affected my work-life balance and took a toll on my emotional as well as mental health. For women, the roads are currently challenging but with a never-give-up attitude, we can change the course of time for future generations.

So be your own biggest cheerleader and your own best friend and keep moving towards achieving your own dreams and ambitions.
