A direct impact of India's commitment to hospitality is a burgeoning hotel industry which is touching the pinnacles of growth over the years. The Indian Hotel industry has transformed greatly over the years. A strong foundation was laid by enterprising business leaders who established several Hotel chains which went on to become benchmarks for the highest standards of hospitality globally. With a strong presence in the global markets as well, these hotel chains have established the growth potential that Indian hotel brands possess. In recent years we have witnessed a great overall growth in investment in the Indian hotel sector. A major reason behind this growth is the abundance of tourism that India receives. Blessed with varied landscapes, cultures and locales, India is a quintessential haven for travelers. Be it domestic travelers or international tourists, India regularly sees a healthy number of people looking to book hotels. The Indian hotel industry was worth $3.8 billion, and is growing at average rate of 12 percent. There is a current supply of about 110,000 hotels rooms and the demand is pegged at about 150,000 hotels rooms. The one roadblock that impacted the entire hotel industry negatively was the pandemic. Throughout COVID-19 the Indian hotel and travel industry suffered the most as people were holed up inside the confines of their home. Throughout 2019, the average occupancy in Indian hotel sector was at a meagre 65 percent. The numbers kept fluctuating through the months and some months saw the numbers go down to even single digits. However, the worst is behind us. Travel and tourism has picked up pace across the country and the Indian hotel sector is in revival model.
