8 DECEMBER2024Amazon India was awarded the Best Women Hygiene Initiative of the Year at the Indian CSR Awards 2024 for its initiatives aimed at improving women's health and hygiene. The company has launched sanitary napkin manufacturing units in Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, promoting health and hygiene awareness and providing local employment opportunities. The award was presented by Rajya Sabha member Ramdas Athawale.Amazon India has been recognized for its commitment to empowering women in local communities through health, hygiene, and employment initiatives, including community resource centers, awareness sessions, and training programs, thereby significantly improving women's lives. Vice President of Last Mile Operations, Amazon India, Dr Karuna Shankar Pande mentioned, "At Amazon India, we are dedicated to building initiatives that address critical health and hygiene needs while also empowering women economically. Our community efforts are designed to be inclusive and focused on the upliftment of women in the communities we serve".Amazon has established napkin manufacturing units, creating direct and indirect employment for 60 women and 200 more at each unit. These units produce affordable, eco-friendly sanitary pads, providing essential menstrual hygiene products to over 2000 rural women and girls. Through community engagement groups and promotes women's health and economic empowerment. She was featured as a speaker in a panel discussion on the theme "Empowering Change: Women Leading the Way in Cinema". She discussed her career, future aspirations, and female-driven storytelling. She praised the growing acceptance of morally complex female characters and the new wave of female writers in the industry. She encouraged women to stay curious, ask questions, and push boundaries, emphasizing the importance of diverse perspectives in reshaping narratives.Kriti reflected on her decision to take on the challenging role of 'Mimi,' for which she received the prestigious National Award for Best Actor (Female), and also spoke about her production debut 'Do Patti' which was a double role for her. She says "I have been lucky to be a part of projects that resonate with audiences. My debut with Netflix was Mimi, and it was such a rewarding experience that opened so many doors.
