8 SEPTEMBER2025Apollo Athena, the first all-women cancer centre in Asia, was inaugurated in E2 Defence Colony, New Delhi by Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (AHEL).The centre was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and was also present at the event Found-er and Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group, Dr Pratap C. Reddy; Bansuri Swaraj MP; Neeraj Basoya MLA; Pree-tha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson, AHEL and Harshad Reddy, Director Group Oncology, AHEL.However, as more current statistics released by the National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reveal, cancer is increasingly commonly diagnosed in women than in men; the most common types are breast and cervical cancer.This reinforces the need for awareness, early de-tection and access to quality healthcare services for women.At the inauguration, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Apollo Athenaa is a landmark in women's health-care.The new centre is an important milestone, she said, which not only aids women of Delhi but also In-dia and the world. She further expressed that her gov-ernment's intention is to make Delhi a major health-care services hub.Dr Pratap C. Reddy has mentioned that Apollo Ath-enaa is the new way of delivering women's health-care through advanced science and warm care in a way that provides dignity and timely care to every woman.He highlighted the company's dedication towards helping in medical innovation and in improving healthcare.MP Bansuri Swaraj opined that the centre is in line with the country's health priorities. She mentioned that the Government of India has launched policies and strategic interventions for the prevention of can-cer, early detection, treatment, and patient care, and that they have been prioritizing women's health.She told that Apollo Athenaa is a global standard in women-centered cancer treatment and will assist the national health mission. Infosys has launched a referral incentive scheme for employees who refer women professionals on a career break and want to return to the workforce.As per an internal message, the employees at job levels 3-6 (mid to senior) are qualified to receive bonuses between 10,000 and 50,000, based on the job role. The incentives will be given on the successful completion of the referred position.To be eligible, candidates need at least two years of previous work experience and a minimum of six months of career break.The program, which is under the company's Restart with Infosys initiative, is designed to enable women coming back to work. Hiring covers across various fields such as Selenium testing, Java, Oracle, Salesforce, and other technologies.Infosys CHRO Shaji Mathew stated the initiative represents the company's wider diversity and ESG objectives, pointing out that the initiative facilitated the recruitment of more than 900 women at mid-management positions during 2024-25 and 500 women in 2023-24. He termed it a step towards inclusion in the industry.Women now represent 39 percent of Infosys' workforce of 323,000, and by 2030, the company intends to increase this percentage to 45 percent. The firm employed more than 15,000 college graduates in the previous financial year.
