India has long been blessed with hordes of hardworking, talented and judicious youngsters. India' first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru envisioned the creation of institutes of repute that could train this human capital into becoming an army of strong business minds of the future.Upon the recommendation of the Planning Commission of India, the IIMs were established. The premier institute Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) was thus established in November 1961. Nestled in the `City of Joy', IIM Calcutta was the country's first national institute for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management. Built in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation and the Indian industry, IIM Calcutta's vision is to `emerge as an International Centre of Excellence in all facets of Management Education, rooted in Indian ethos and societal values'.Over the years it has emerged as the only triple-crowned Indian B-School with AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS accreditations. The institute of management studies has over the years produced scores of sharp and capable scholars. IIM Calcutta graduates have not only distinguished themselves by means of their extraordinary achievements in their chosen professions but have also played a crucial role in giving back to the country & society at large.Take for instance, Aashna Narula. A young gun, Aashna is the Director of Psychopedia, a Psychology Coaching Institute that she founded in 2015. Aashna made a conscious decision to invest in her own learning and enrolled in `Transitioning Women into Leadership' course at IIM Calcutta. The course and institute helped Aashnagrow as a leader, learn more about leadership, and become a better leader. The current edition of Women Entrepreneur India brings to several such stories of the illustrious alumni women leaders from IIM Calcutta. These prolific women leaders have created a strong position in their industries of choice and serve as a shining beacon of hope to millions of Indian girls to aim for the stars.
